Funding for Monhegan ferry study
The law funds a Maine DOT study on adding ferry service to Monhegan Island. It provides a one-time $7,000 Highway Fund appropriation in fiscal year 2025-26. There is no funding for 2026-27. DOT may invite stakeholders to join the study. The Transportation Commissioner may appoint a Monhegan Plantation representative, a year-round Maine resident with a vested interest in Monhegan, a private water transit provider representative, and up to two DOT representatives (one may represent the Maine State Ferry Service). Inviting these stakeholders is optional.
