Bill Overview

Analyzed Economic Effects

2 provisions identified: 1 benefits, 0 costs, 1 mixed.

24/7 mental health crisis help statewide

The law sets up crisis support in all 16 counties. Teams provide counseling, evaluation, treatment, referrals, and mobile help in the community and hospitals. A local hotline runs 24/7 and links with the national 9-8-8 lifeline. People in Maine can get free, confidential support any time.

Old crisis law repealed and replaced

The law repeals the earlier crisis intervention statute. Services now run under a new statewide Crisis Intervention Support program that ties into 9-8-8. Any programs that relied only on the old section end unless covered by the new program.
