The law removes anabolic steroids from Maine’s definition of controlled substances. The state’s prescription monitoring program stops tracking anabolic steroid prescriptions. The health department must delete all past steroid prescribing and dispensing records when the law takes effect. The state funds $62,000 in FY 2026-27 for database work and $15,000 one time to purge records, for $77,000 total. There is $0 funding in FY 2025-26.
