Dental insurance must cover hygienists
Beginning July 1, 2025, dental and health plans that include dental must cover care done by licensed dental hygienists, including independent practice hygienists. The service must already be a covered benefit in your plan, and the hygienist must be allowed by law to do it. This applies to individual plans, employer group plans, and HMOs. This can make it easier to get care and may lower what you pay out of pocket.
