Maine Human Rights Commission mediators get immunity

The Maine Human Rights Commission must contract with outside, impartial mediators for its third-party mediation program. While doing official mediation work, these mediators are treated as state employees for legal immunity. They have the same protections under the Maine Tort Claims Act when acting in that role. This immunity applies only while they carry out official duties in the program.
