Legal protection for commission mediators

The Maine Human Rights Commission must use impartial, contracted mediators for its neutral mediation program. These mediators are treated as state employees for legal immunity. They get the same protection state workers have under the Maine Tort Claims Act. The protection applies only while they are doing official mediation work.
