Timber donations and public list for firewood banks

The Bureau of Forestry can donate timber from Public Reserved Lands to a firewood bank after a written request. Donations happen only if the director finds enough money in the Public Reserved Lands Management Fund. The bank must pay or repay harvest and trucking fees and meet all harvest contract terms. A firewood bank buys or accepts wood and gives it free to people and families who need heat help. The Bureau promotes firewood banks, can work with the University of Maine System, and keeps a public list of all banks on its website.
