No Social Security cut to Maine disability pension
The law ends the cut to Maine public employee disability pensions when you also get Social Security disability. Offsets for workers’ compensation still apply, except amounts under former Title 39 §56‑B or Title 39‑A §212(3). If you received a Maine public employee disability pension on December 31, 2024 and your check was cut for Social Security, you get a one‑time payment. It equals the difference since January 1, 2024 between what you would get without that cut and what you got. It also adds 6.5% interest from January 1, 2024 until the payment date. The law also repeals two related subsections: 5 MRSA §17925(3) and §18525(3).
