New safety fund for commercial fishers

The law creates the Commercial Fishing Safety Fund in the Department of Marine Resources. It pays for safety training, equipment, and search, rescue, and recovery for commercial fishers. The commissioner must consult the Commercial Fishing Safety Council before spending. The fund can take donations; interest stays in the fund; unspent money carries forward. Baseline allocations are $500 in 2025-26 and $500 in 2026-27 from Other Special Revenue Funds.
