Clear notice when a chatbot answers
In Maine, businesses must tell you when you are chatting with a bot. If a chatbot or similar tech could make you think it is a person, the business must give a clear and easy‑to‑see or hear notice that it is not human. This covers chat in apps, websites, and phone systems. Breaking this rule is a violation of the Maine Unfair Trade Practices Act, which lets consumers and the state enforce it.
