Businesses must disclose AI chatbots to consumers
Businesses that use AI chatbots or other computer tools in sales or customer service must tell consumers when the exchange could make a reasonable person think they are talking to a human. The notice must be clear and easy to see or hear and say the consumer is not engaging with a human. If a business skips this notice, it is an unfair trade practice under Maine law, and the state can enforce it and seek remedies.
