Talks to update Old Town landfill payments

The law directs Maine’s Bureau of General Services to start talks with the landfill operator and the City of Old Town. The goal is to update the December 8, 2005 host community compensation deal so Old Town is fairly paid for hosting the Juniper Ridge Landfill. The talks must consider changes since 2005, any proposed landfill capacity expansion, and any proposed extension of the operating services contract. The bureau takes reasonable steps to run these talks at the same time as any expansion or contract extension reviews.
