More grants for recycling and composting
The Department can give grants to public or private groups for projects that keep waste out of disposal. Eligible work includes composting, organics recovery, and recycling, and starting or improving those programs. It also covers support for home composting and recycling, collection and transport, processing, pilot tests, and public education. For public and regional grantees, grants can pay consultants, feasibility studies, and regional teamwork on collection and transport. The law does not set dollar amounts or name a start date.
