MaineCare leaves insurance drug benefit rules
The law removes MaineCare from the definition of an insurance carrier for these prescription drug benefit rules. Rules that apply to carriers therefore no longer apply to MaineCare on that basis. Multi-employer welfare plans are also excluded when an outside administrator manages their health benefits, including prescription drugs. The group health plan for state employees and other eligible people remains included. The law does not specify changes to individual drug benefits, eligibility, or costs.
