Drug suppliers get earlier licenses, must report
Effective March 3, 2026, Maine’s Board of Pharmacy can grant initial wholesaler and manufacturer licenses before federal registration numbers are obtained. Applicants must list any applicable Drug Enforcement Administration and Food and Drug Administration registration numbers they already have. They must file missing numbers with the Board once obtained; failure to file is grounds for license enforcement. Application forms must include the applicant’s name, address, daytime and 24-hour phone numbers, ownership status, and manufacturer or wholesaler status. An owner or officer must sign the form, give their printed name and title, and date it. The law also updates which federal and state law violations are grounds for discipline. Its emergency clause makes these changes effective upon approval.
