Bill Overview

Analyzed Economic Effects

2 provisions identified: 0 benefits, 2 costs, 0 mixed.

Disabled veterans face moose permit wait

Disabled veterans who receive a transferred moose permit under this rule face a waiting period before getting another. They cannot get another moose permit before the fourth calendar year after their last permit was issued.

Stricter permits for moving live fish

People need a valid permit to introduce, import, or transport live freshwater fish or reproductive cells into Maine. This also covers receiving or possessing fish or cells moved without a valid permit. Permit applications and limited local-government stocking permits now cover reproductive cells, called gametes, rather than just fish eggs. Import applicants must provide a fish-health certificate, and the Commissioner can require more tests. Unauthorized fish movement is a Class E crime with mandatory fines of $1,000–$10,000.
