Two-year rental fleet inspections with higher fees

Beginning January 1, 2027, qualifying rental businesses can get two-year inspection certificates for each fleet vehicle. Businesses must rent noncommercial vehicles to the public and register at least 700 such vehicles in Maine each year. They must file an affidavit with Maine’s Department of Public Safety, Bureau of State Police. It must state that their fleet will meet or exceed inspection standards throughout the two years. Businesses using this program pay $5 per sticker, twice the standard $2.50 fee.
