Remote pharmacy sites for rural residents

The law creates a license path for retail pharmacies to run remote dispensing sites in places with poor pharmacy access. The Maine Board of Pharmacy must set rules by June 30, 2026. Until the Board adopts those rules, pharmacies cannot operate these sites. The rules allow pharmacist supervision, drug review, and patient counseling by telehealth. They also set technician staffing and require record keeping, security, and surveillance.
