Cap on Maine cleanup staffing funds
The law caps payments from the Maine Ground and Surface Waters Clean-up and Response Fund for staff pay at $7,000,000 each fiscal year. The cap adjusts every year for inflation using the U.S. Consumer Price Index. It applies only to the Department of Environmental Protection’s personal services for administering and enforcing the cleanup laws. The cap does not apply to equipment or other administrative costs paid from the fund.
