Small grants for lake water quality projects
The law provides one-time General Fund money for lake water quality grants. It gives $50,000 in fiscal year 2025-26 and $50,000 in 2026-27, for $100,000 total. Beginning July 1, 2025, Maine’s Department of Environmental Protection can award grants from the Lake Water Quality Restoration and Protection Fund (Fund Z385). Projects must improve or maintain lake water quality. The law does not list the project criteria; the Department administers the fund.
