Grants to plan later school start times

The law creates a School Start Time Fund in the Maine Department of Education. The department runs a grant program to help school districts plan staggered schedules so secondary schools start later than elementary schools. Districts can use grants to plan within their own schools or with neighboring districts. One-time funding in FY 2025-26 includes $100,000 for a contracted administrator and $106,078 for grants, for a total of $206,078. There is no funding in FY 2026-27.
