Employers must keep your pay history

Your employer must keep a record of each job you held and what you were paid. They must keep it while you work there and for three years after you leave.

Workers and job seekers see pay ranges

The law requires employers with 10 or more workers to list the pay range in job ads. This includes online, printed, and third-party postings. If pay is commission-only, the ad must say so. As an employee, you can ask for the pay range for your current job, and your employer must give it.

State hires inspector to enforce pay rules

The state funds one Labor and Safety Inspector to enforce these pay rules. The budget provides $0 in 2025-26 and $81,401 in 2026-27. For 2026-27, $75,336 is for pay and $6,065 is for other costs.
