Workers get up to 40 hours paid leave
You earn 1 hour of paid leave for every 40 hours you work for the same employer, up to 40 hours in a year. Accrual starts on your first day. Your employer does not have to let you use it until you have worked 120 days there within a year. Unused hours from last year stay available in the next year, and they do not reduce how much new leave you can earn next year, up to 40 hours or your employer’s higher limit. Accrual is counted separately for each employer, and the Maine Department of Labor enforces these rules using existing resources.
