Stronger credit rules for medical bills

Medical debt does not appear on your credit report for 180 days after your first missed payment. During that time, medical providers, collectors, and debt buyers cannot report it. If you show proof the bill was paid or settled in full, credit bureaus must remove or stop reporting it. If you are on an agreed payment plan and paying on time, it is reported like other credit accounts. Missed payments are reported the same way as other loans.
