New bureau jobs for veterans only

The law lets the Maine Bureau of Veterans' Services hire staff it needs. Hiring must be approved by the appointing authority and follow the Civil Service Law. Named jobs include deputy director and cemetery superintendent and deputy. Other roles include veteran claims specialist, supervisors, and veterans' service officers. The director and all of these staff must be veterans under 38 U.S.C. Section 101(2) with an honorable discharge. Non-veterans cannot be hired into these roles.
