Maine redirects domestic violence program funding

The law gives Maine’s corrections victim services office $500,000 in one-time funding for certified domestic violence intervention programs in 2026–27. It provides no new appropriation for 2025–26. Existing money set aside to partly reimburse low-income participants’ fees must instead support ongoing program funding. The law does not specify that amount or how participants’ fees change. By June 30, 2027, the State Controller must also move $500,000 in Attorney General settlement funds into the General Fund’s unappropriated surplus.
