Clearer equal pay rules for health workers
The Department of Labor must update Maine’s equal pay rules. Different hospital or health system sites at different addresses are not one “establishment.” A valid seniority preference is based on years of service or on relevant experience or credentials. This helps workers compare pay fairly at their own location while keeping clear rules for seniority.
Fast-track equal pay rule changes
This law takes effect when approved. The Department of Labor must adopt the equal pay rule changes by October 1, 2025. These are routine technical rules under state law.
