Stronger backups and access to land records

County registries keep a microfilm copy of every recorded page in a fireproof area and a digital image on magnetic or optical media. They permanently file original plans and make a clear digital image (at least 300 dpi/ppi) for the public. Each plan is kept in both microfilm and digital formats for backup. When originals are fragile, the register can withdraw them but must provide true copies or readable images. Courts must accept certified copies from these records as the same as the original. Each office also keeps an index of all plans.

New filing rules for paper plans

Paper plans you file must be rolled, not folded. The register can return plans that are not legible for recording and archiving, or that may damage county equipment. If returned, you must fix and resubmit the plan.
