Deed records go digital, same legal force
The register of deeds makes a digital image of every recorded page. Images are stored on magnetic or optical media in a fireproof area. When worn originals are pulled from use, the register provides a true copy or readable digital image. Courts accept certified copies from these images or true copies with the same legal effect as the originals.
Digital plan records and submission rules
Paper plans you submit must be rolled, not folded. The register may return illegible plans or ones that could damage equipment. The office keeps the original plan and makes a digital image at least 300 dots per inch. A public copy is kept on paper or as a digital image. The digital archive uses magnetic or optical media, and the office keeps an index of all plans.
