New rules for Maine Oversight Committee

The law updates who serves on the Government Oversight Committee. Beginning with the 132nd Legislature, it must include at least one tax committee member. It also must include at least one economic development committee member. No two members can both serve on the same joint standing committee and be in the same political party. Membership and the choice of chairs are set by joint rule of the Legislature. The law applies retroactively to December 4, 2024.
