New membership rules for Oversight Committee
The Legislature still sets the committee’s membership and chairs by joint rule. Beginning with the 132nd Legislature, at least one member must also serve on the Taxation Committee. The law removes the old rule to include an Economic Development Committee member. It also drops limits on having two members from the same joint committee or the same political party. The Act applies retroactively to December 4, 2024, and is effective on approval (May 23, 2025). This change affects legislators, not household taxes or benefits.
