State health plan for Maine Indian Tribal-State Commission staff
Employees of the Maine Indian Tribal-State Commission can enroll in the State of Maine group health plan. You must be employed by the Commission to qualify. The law adds this group to the list of people eligible for the state plan.
Limits on adding non-state workers to state health plan
If you are not a state employee, the Legislature cannot add you to the state group health plan. The only exception is if you work for a quasi-governmental entity that gets significant, ongoing operating funds from a General Fund appropriation. This narrows who can be made eligible in the future.
