Analyzed Economic Effects

Annual funding for Michigan tribal services

The law directs $1 million yearly from the Internet Gaming Fund to essential services of federally recognized Michigan tribal governments. The Michigan Strategic Fund distributes it using an allocation plan recommended by the Inter-Tribal Council of Michigan. This payment follows funding for internet gaming regulation, Millionaire Party oversight, gambling prevention, and first responder coverage. It comes before remaining money goes to the state school aid fund. Spending requires legislative approval through an appropriation.

Higher funding limit for first responder claims

The law replaces a fixed $2 million yearly allocation with up to $7 million per fiscal year for first responder coverage. The money goes from the Internet Gaming Fund to the Christopher R. Slezak First Responder Presumed Coverage Fund. It pays 50% of approved claim costs and fund administration costs, subject to the $7 million cap. This funding follows internet gaming regulation, Millionaire Party oversight, and gambling prevention spending. Spending requires legislative approval through an appropriation.
