Insurance agents gain training credit through associations

For license review dates after December 31, 2025, Michigan insurance agents can count association participation toward continuing education. Up to 4 of the required 24 hours can come from qualifying professional insurance association activities. The agent or their agency must be a dues-paying member in good standing. The association must offer a course approved by the state insurance director. It must exist for purposes beyond continuing education and give the director its formation papers filed with the state. Agents must actively participate for the credits claimed, with at least 50 minutes per credit. At the agent’s request, the association must send the director a statement confirming participation. These credits do not count toward the required 3 ethics hours.
