Michigan Guard TRICARE premium payback

This law creates a program that pays back TRICARE premiums for Michigan National Guard members. You can get reimbursed for premiums you paid for individual coverage under TRICARE Reserve Select or the TRICARE Dental program. You must be eligible for those plans and meet the department’s application rules. You have to apply using the department form, posted with instructions on its website. Payments happen only if the Michigan National Guard member benefit fund has enough money.

Starts after tied bills, agency rules

This law takes effect only after SB 540, SB 542, and HB 4962 are enacted. Once those bills are law, this act takes effect right away. The Department of Military and Veterans Affairs must adopt rules under the state Administrative Procedures Act. The rules cover who can apply, what proof is needed, and how payments are made.
