Michigan expands practice access for physical therapists
Beginning 18 months after enactment, Michigan recognizes physical therapy compact privileges as licensed status for therapists and assistants. Assistants must work under a physical therapist’s supervision. The law ties these changes to enactment of House Bill 4101 of the 103rd Legislature. It also establishes an 11-member board: six physical therapists, one physical therapist assistant, and four public members. Members serve four-year terms ending December 31; the board must choose the department director as Michigan’s compact delegate.
Therapy compact users pay $90 yearly
People seeking a Michigan physical therapy compact privilege pay $90 per year. The law also lists regular licensing fees: $20 for application processing and $25 for the jurisprudence exam. Regular licenses cost $90 per year, and limited licenses cost $25 per year. These provisions take effect 18 months after enactment, tied to enactment of House Bill 4101 of the 103rd Legislature.
