Written broker terms for buyers and renters

Missouri requires designated brokers representing buyers or tenants as single agents to sign written agency agreements before covered services begin. The agreement must explain the agent’s duties and responsibilities and the terms of pay. The requirement excludes ministerial acts, as defined in state law.

Brokers gain business options for receiving pay

Missouri adds real estate brokers to broker-salespersons and salespersons allowed to receive earned pay through businesses formed for that purpose. A licensee can own the business alone or with an unlicensed spouse. A licensed spouse can share ownership when both spouses work under the same broker. Other shared ownership is allowed when all owners are licensed and work under the same broker. The business itself does not need a real estate license.
