Beginning upon passage, the law removes county and city taxes on the right to use certain state-owned coastal lands. The exemption covers leases and subleases granted by or through the Mississippi Department of Marine Resources. They must be issued under Sections 49-15-27, 49-15-37, or 49-15-46 and cover public trust tidelands or submerged lands. Other leases of these lands remain subject to local taxes on leasehold interests.
