Counties must post meeting notices online

The law requires counties to post special meeting notices on the county website or the county’s official social media page. The post must be up for at least three days right before the meeting. This is in addition to a courthouse posting or a newspaper notice. Starting July 1, 2026.

Shorter notice for special county meetings

The law shortens notice for special county board meetings from five business days to three business days. It applies when the president, the vice president, or any three supervisors call the meeting. Notice can be an ad at the courthouse door or a county newspaper notice. The clerk enters the full notice in the minutes. The notice must list each item of business, and the board may not act on items not listed. Starting July 1, 2026.
