Tax-free weekend for firearms and safes

Beginning July 1, 2026, Mississippi exempts sales tax during the Mississippi Second Amendment Weekend. The holiday runs from 12:01 a.m. on the last Friday in August through midnight Sunday. You pay no state sales tax on firearms, ammunition, hunting supplies (like archery gear, cases, hearing protection, holsters, belts, and slings), and firearm safes (not glass-faced). The sale qualifies if title or possession transfers during the weekend. It also qualifies if you order and pay and the seller accepts immediate shipment during the weekend, and you did not cause a delivery delay.
