2027 funding for district attorney staff and offices

From July 1, 2026 through June 30, 2027, the state funds district attorney offices. It provides $35,938,126 from the General Fund for salaries, travel, tort claims assessments, and office costs. It adds $491,802 from the Prosecutor Compensation Fund for assistant district attorney pay. Of the total, $1,702,000 is set aside for district attorney office expenses. The law also funds new staff: $480,896 for two legal assistants and one criminal investigator in the 6th Circuit, and $371,679 for two assistant district attorneys and one criminal investigator authorized under earlier law.

No local meal reimbursements for district attorney staff

District attorneys and their staff cannot use these funds to reimburse taxable meals eaten inside their own district. This ban applies to the fiscal year that runs July 1, 2026 through June 30, 2027.
