2 provisions identified: 1 benefits, 1 costs, 0 mixed.

Misdemeanor fees fund Crime Stoppers

Any county or city that imposes the extra $1 must send the money each month to DeSoto County Crimestoppers, Inc., and to the State Crime Stoppers Program. The funds pay for tips and information to catch and convict people who commit crimes in DeSoto County.

Extra $1 fee on misdemeanors

DeSoto County justice court can add up to $1 per misdemeanor case. The municipal courts of Hernando, Olive Branch, Horn Lake, and Southaven can do the same. They must first pass a local resolution. If adopted where your case is filed, you pay the extra $1 per misdemeanor case. The law takes effect upon passage; the fee starts only after a local resolution.
