Mississippi bans sanctuary policies and boosts enforcement

Beginning July 1, 2026, all state and local agencies and public colleges must fully cooperate with federal immigration enforcement. They must honor immigration detainer requests from ICE and share information about noncitizens when officials ask. The law bans and voids any sanctuary rule that blocks enforcement or communication, or that grants lawful presence against state or federal law. The Attorney General investigates violations and can sue officials and entities to force compliance.
