Higher pay cap for Mississippi criminal investigators

Beginning July 1, 2025, Mississippi raises the annual pay cap for district attorneys’ full-time criminal investigators from $63,000 to $75,000. Each district attorney sets pay based on qualifications, education, and experience; individual raises are not guaranteed. Necessary travel and other expenses are paid separately. For investigators with law degrees, district attorneys can add pay from other available funds. Total pay for those investigators cannot exceed the maximum salary for a district attorney’s legal assistant.
