New label rules for plant amendments

Effective July 1, 2025, Mississippi law defines beneficial substances and plant biostimulants within its rules for plant and soil amendments. Labels on covered products must be easy to read and show the brand, weight or volume, purpose, directions, ingredients and guaranteed amounts, and the registrant’s or guarantor’s name and address. The information must also accompany bulk shipments, and product claims cannot be false or misleading. State officials can require evidence for product claims, limit which ingredients may be listed, and set testing and quality rules. They can also adopt a recommended label standard; the law authorizes this step but does not itself adopt that label.
