Starting July 1, 2026, you cannot run a fully driverless car on Mississippi roads without first filing a police interaction plan with the Department of Public Safety. The plan explains how to reach a fleet support specialist during operation. It covers how to spot autonomous mode and how to safely pull over and tow the car. Include any safety or hazard notes from the maker or owner, plus any extra items DPS lists online. If you do not file the plan, DPS can order the car off public roads until you do. These rules end on July 1, 2029.
