The law creates the Wild Turkey Stamp Fund. Money from turkey stamp sales is deposited into the Fisheries and Wildlife fund and set aside for this program. The department can use it to run the electronic harvest tag program, restore or protect turkey populations and habitat, fund qualified turkey research, and increase public turkey hunting access. The money can be used to match grants to bring in more funding. None of it can pay administrative salaries. The commission may partner with state, federal, or nonprofit groups to carry out these projects.
You must buy a Mississippi wild turkey stamp to hunt during open seasons, unless you are exempt. Exempt: resident kids under 16; residents 65 or older; resident blind, paraplegic, or multiple amputees; veterans with total service‑connected disability; people judged totally disabled by Social Security; and holders of a lifetime sportsman license. Residents pay $10 per stamp; nonresidents pay $100. Each stamp lasts through the final day of the next spring turkey season; then you must buy a new one. The commission can require a stamp before issuing harvest tags, except for exempt people. Stamps can be physical or electronic; your electronic stamp on file counts as proof. Hunting without a required stamp is a misdemeanor with a $25 to $100 fine.
