Pay raise for Alcorn agriculture faculty

The law provides the equivalent of a $2,000 raise for all professors and adjunct professors in Alcorn State’s agricultural programs for July 1, 2026 to June 30, 2027. The Institutional Executive Officer decides how to apply the increase. The law sets aside $101,640 from the Education Enhancement Fund to cover these raises.

Funding for Alcorn State farm programs

For July 1, 2026 to June 30, 2027, Mississippi funds Alcorn State’s agricultural research, extension, and land‑grant programs. $8.16 million comes from the State General Fund. Another $436,640 comes from the Education Enhancement Fund. Of that, $271,640 is for agency operations and $165,000 is for the Poultry Sciences Center. The law also provides $300,000 from the General Fund for the Poultry Sciences Center and $715,000 for research and extension in poultry, animal, and environmental science. The Treasurer’s Office sets the Education Enhancement Fund allocation.

No state backfill for lost salary funds

The agency cannot use the General Fund in this act to replace federal or other special salary money that ends. If outside salary funds stop, the agency cannot backfill those wages with this appropriation. This rule applies beginning July 1, 2026.
