FY2027 funding and jobs for Ethics Commission

Beginning July 1, 2026, the state provides $759,388 from the General Fund to the Mississippi Ethics Commission for FY 2027. The money covers July 1, 2026 through June 30, 2027. The commission can fill six permanent jobs; no time-limited jobs are funded. It may use the funds to buy casualty insurance for agency passenger vehicles. This funds agency operations and does not change household taxes or benefits.

Tighter spending and record rules for Ethics Commission

The commission cannot use these state funds to replace federal or special salary funds that end. It cannot spend or incur debts above its appropriation. Officers can be held personally or on their official bonds liable if they break this rule. The commission must keep full accounting and personnel records like FY 2026 and submit its FY 2028 budget in the same detail as FY 2027.
