The law provides $473,712 for the Mississippi Board of Examiners for Licensed Professional Counselors. The money covers July 1, 2026 through June 30, 2027. The Board may staff three permanent positions with these funds. It also sets aside $141,750 to update and maintain the Licensing Management System and other tech. Funds are paid following state warrant and requisition rules.
The Board must keep full accounting and personnel records and submit its FY2028 budget in the same detail as FY2027. The Board cannot use these general funds to replace lost federal or special salary money, and cannot spend above its appropriation; officers may be personally liable for violations. The Board must follow IRS Publication 15-A on reporting pay to contract workers, as interpreted by the State Auditor. When bids are tied on price, quality, and service, the Board must prefer Mississippi Industries for the Blind; the same applies to non-bid purchases. Payments follow the State Treasurer and State Fiscal Officer warrant process. These rules take effect July 1, 2026.
