Employer training credit grows through 2030

Beginning January 1, 2026, the statewide pool for employer skills‑training tax credits rises from $1 million to $2.5 million a year. The program runs through December 31, 2030. The credit covers 50% of qualified training costs and is capped at $2,500 per employee each year. Your credit cannot exceed 50% of your income tax; unused amounts carry forward five years and are not refundable. Training must be run through, or approved by, your local community or junior college, which evaluates it as job‑related, and you must be certified by the college and the Mississippi Department of Revenue.
