County registration and fees for golf carts

To use a golf cart or low-speed vehicle on these streets, you must register it with the county. You must show proof of financial responsibility and a valid license or permit, and pay a reasonable fee. The county gives you a decal for the left rear fender and a map of allowed areas. Your registration stays valid while you own the vehicle. The chancery clerk deposits the fee in the DeSoto County general fund.

Golf cart use in Buena Vista Lakes

The DeSoto County Board can authorize golf carts and low-speed vehicles on streets in Buena Vista Lakes and can set rules or end approval. If authorized, you may drive only where bicycles are allowed. You may not drive on state highways or non-interstate federal highways, except to cross by the shortest route. On multi-lane roads, use the outside lane. You must carry a valid driver’s license or permit and proof of financial responsibility.
