More voices on state building codes

The law increases the Building Codes Council from 12 to 13 members. It adds a home building industry representative and a Montana state fire chiefs' association representative. The governor appoints all members to three-year terms, and they serve at the governor's pleasure. The council helps the department apply and interpret state and local building codes and works with builders and the public to align rules for safety, efficiency, and cost. The council is housed in the department for administrative purposes only. Members receive pay and expenses as set in statute 2-15-122.
