No noncompetes for Montana health providers

The law bans contract terms that limit your practice after you leave a job or partnership. It covers psychiatrists (including addiction medicine), psychologists, naturopathic physicians, social workers, professional counselors, addiction counselors, marriage and family therapists, behavioral health peer support specialists, registered and advanced practice nurses, and physician assistants. Employers cannot block you from working anywhere or for any length of time after you leave. They also cannot stop you from treating, advising, or reaching out to their current patients. This applies only after the relationship ends, to contracts made or renewed on or after the law’s signing, and not to practice sale agreements.
